Start with tequila, then choose a direction
Tequila works in much more than a Margarita. These eleven recipes range from a two-ingredient Tequila Soda to a chili-and-cilantro Picante de la Casa. Some are built directly in the glass; others need shaking. Use the flavor notes to choose what fits your mood and your bottles.
Citrus, fruit, or a little heat?
Margarita combines lime and orange liqueur, while Tommy's Margarita uses agave nectar in place of the liqueur. Paloma brings grapefruit and soda. Tequila Sunrise is orange and grenadine; Matador adds pineapple and lime. Batanga pairs blanco tequila with cola and lime. El Diablo uses blackcurrant liqueur and ginger ale, and Picante brings fresh chili.
Two ingredients can be enough
Tequila Soda keeps the flavor simple with blanco tequila and soda water. Brave Bull pairs tequila with coffee liqueur. Tequila Slammer is a small tequila-and-lemonade drink. Check the quantities on each recipe rather than treating every option as the same serving size.
