This Privacy Policy covers the mobile app Cocktail Recipes: Bar Drinks (the App) and https://cocktail-guide.com, including its language versions (the Website). Together, they are the Services. It explains what personal information we process, why we process it, and your choices.
Owner and data controller: Maksym Nikitenko.
Privacy and support contact: support@cocktail-guide.com.
Reading this policy or using the Services does not itself constitute consent to optional analytics. We request consent separately where required.
1. Information we process
Website requests and security. When you visit the Website, our hosting and delivery providers process information needed to deliver and protect it, such as your IP address, browser and device information, requested URL, request time, and security or error logs. This processing can occur even when you decline optional analytics.
Website preferences. Your browser can remember your cookie choice, preferred language, measurement units, recipe servings, and dismissed notices. Section 3 explains the storage used for these preferences.
Optional website analytics. If you accept analytics and analytics is configured, PostHog receives a browser identifier, pages viewed, referring pages or campaign information, browser/device information, language, searches entered in the cocktail catalog, filters, recipe interactions, and download-link interactions. Network requests can also expose your IP address to the receiving service. Please do not enter personal or sensitive information in the cocktail search box. Website session recording and automatic click capture are disabled; we send selected interaction events.
Optional App accounts. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we may receive a provider account identifier, email address, display name, and profile information you authorize. Apple may provide a relay email address. We do not receive your Apple or Google password. Browsing the Website does not create an App account.
App content and permissions. Depending on the features you use, we process saved Favorites, Notes, Custom Cocktails, My Bar ingredients, preferences, and content you choose to synchronize. Photos or other content you add are processed to provide the requested feature, subject to the permissions you grant. Avoid adding sensitive personal information or information about others without permission. The App does not request contacts or precise location access.
App purchases. App stores and RevenueCat process purchases and Premium entitlements. We may receive product identifiers, transaction or receipt identifiers, purchase/subscription status, platform information, and an App user identifier. We do not receive your complete payment card details. The Website does not collect card details or sell subscriptions directly.
App usage and diagnostics. Integrated App services may process device model, operating system, app version, language, region, app-instance identifiers, screens and feature interactions, crash reports, and performance information. The Website cookie banner controls Website analytics; it does not change App permissions or App analytics settings.
Messages you send us. If you contact us, we process your email address, message, and any attachments or other information you provide to respond and resolve your request.
2. Purposes and legal bases
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on:
- Providing a requested service or performing a contract: optional App accounts, synchronization, saved content, purchase validation, restoring Premium access, and responding to service requests. If required information is not provided, the related feature may be unavailable.
- Legitimate interests: delivering and securing the Website and App, preventing abuse and fraud, diagnosing failures, and handling correspondence or disputes, where these interests are not overridden by your rights. Consent is used instead where required for device access or analytics.
- Consent: optional Website analytics and other processing or device permissions for which consent is required. You may withdraw consent as explained below without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.
- Legal obligations: records, valid legal requests, and obligations imposed by applicable law.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. The Services do not display third-party advertising. Cocktail recommendations do not constitute automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you.
3. Website cookies and browser storage
The Website uses the following storage. Browser settings may shorten the periods listed below.
| Storage | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
cr_consent_analytics cookie | Remembers whether you accepted or declined optional analytics | 365 days after your choice |
cr_unit cookie and local storage | Remembers your selected recipe measurement units | Cookie: 365 days after selection; local storage: until cleared |
cr_locale_preference local storage | Remembers the language you select | Until cleared |
cr_locale_suggest_dismissed local storage | Remembers that you dismissed the language suggestion | Until cleared |
cr_portions session storage | Remembers recipe servings | Until the browser tab/session ends |
cr_sticky_dismissed session storage | Remembers that you dismissed the download prompt | Until the browser tab/session ends |
ph_…_posthog analytics cookie | Recognizes a browser for PostHog analytics, only after acceptance | Up to 365 days; may be renewed during consented use |
__ph_opt_in_out_… local storage | Remembers a PostHog analytics opt-out or opt-in, when set | Until cleared |
PostHog session storage ph_…_window_id, ph_…_primary_window_exists | Identifies a browser tab/session for analytics, only after acceptance | Until the browser tab/session ends |
Preference storage supports your choices and requested Website features. Optional analytics storage is not needed to read recipes, choose a language, or download the App.
Change your choice. Use Cookie settings in the Website footer to reopen the banner and accept or decline analytics at any time. Declining stops future Website analytics and clears the PostHog analytics persistence controlled by our integration. It does not automatically erase events already received; contact us if you want to request deletion. You can also clear cookies and browser storage in your browser settings; this may reset your preferences and show the banner again. Browser blocking controls can limit storage.
4. App download links and external sites
The /get route reads browser/platform information to send mobile visitors to the appropriate app store and desktop visitors to the Website download section. This redirect works without analytics consent. Only with granted Website analytics consent do we send a download-click event to PostHog, including store, link placement, language, and a browser or event identifier.
When you follow an App Store, Google Play, email, or other external link, the destination provider processes information under its own policy. Store links may include campaign or referral parameters. We do not receive an individual user's full store browsing or payment history through these links.
5. Service providers and disclosures
Providers receive information relevant to their role:
- Cloudflare and hosting/delivery providers: Website delivery, network security, and operational logs. Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
- PostHog: consented Website analytics and App product analytics. PostHog Privacy Policy.
- Apple and Google: optional App sign-in, app distribution, purchases, billing, cancellations, and refunds under their own policies. Apple Privacy Policy and Google Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat: purchase validation, restoration, subscription status, and Premium entitlement management. RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
- Firebase services: App usage analytics and Crashlytics crash/diagnostic reporting. Firebase privacy information.
- Email and technical support providers: handling messages and maintaining the Services.
Providers acting on our behalf are authorized to process information for the relevant service, subject to applicable contractual and legal safeguards. App stores and sign-in providers also act independently for their own services. We may disclose information when required by law or reasonably necessary to prevent fraud, protect safety and security, or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. If the Services are transferred to a new owner, information may be transferred with appropriate safeguards and notice where required.
6. Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above. Account and synchronized content are generally kept while the account is active or until deletion is requested. Purchase records may be kept longer to restore access, address fraud or disputes, and meet legal recordkeeping duties. Support messages are kept while needed to resolve the request and any related dispute.
For operational logs, analytics, and diagnostics, retention depends on the service's settings, the need to investigate problems, and applicable legal requirements. Cookie lifetimes in section 3 describe browser storage, not the retention period of analytics events on provider servers. We delete or anonymize information that is no longer needed, except where continued retention is legally required. Backup copies may remain until the backup cycle replaces them and are not used for ordinary operations.
7. Account deletion and privacy rights
You can delete an App account through Profile → Delete Account, or contact support@cocktail-guide.com for assistance. We delete or anonymize associated information under our control, except records we must retain for lawful purposes. Account deletion or uninstalling the App does not cancel a subscription; cancel it separately through your Apple App Store or Google Play account.
Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability of your personal information. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent for consent-based processing. Contact us to exercise these rights; we may request proportionate information to verify your identity. For browser analytics requests, a browser identifier or relevant visit information may help us locate records; do not send passwords or payment card details. Exceptions and response deadlines depend on applicable law. We do not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
You may complain to your competent data protection authority, including the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, your EEA supervisory authority, or the UK Information Commissioner's Office, as applicable. You do not have to contact us first.
8. International processing and security
Providers may process information in Ukraine, the United States, the EEA, the United Kingdom, and other countries where they operate. Where required, transfers must be covered by an applicable lawful transfer mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses and relevant additional safeguards. Contact us for information about safeguards relevant to your data or to request a copy where available.
We use reasonable technical and organizational security measures. No transmission or storage system is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Age restrictions
The Services and alcohol-related content are intended for people of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect children's personal information. If you believe an underage person has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
10. Updates and contact
We update this policy when our practices change. The date shown on this page identifies the latest revision. We provide additional notice or request renewed consent when required, and do not treat an update as permission for new consent-based processing.
